Share now KATHMANDU, 2082-08-22—The Nepal Geological Students’ Society (NGSS) successfully hosted an expert lecture titled “Geological Investigation and Its Application in the Construction of High Voltage Transmission Lines in Nepal.” Held in person at the Central Department of Geology in Kirtipur, the session served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange between academia and industry. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Jharendra K.C., a seasoned engineering geologist and geotechnical expert from Rastriya Prasaran Grid Company Limited (RPGCL). Drawing on extensive field experience from major national projects, including the Upper Tamakoshi and Upper Tirushili hydropower initiatives, Mr. K.C. provided a practical and in-depth analysis of geo-hazard assessment, slope stability, and risk mitigation in transmission line development across Nepal’s demanding terrain. The session fostered meaningful dialogue on integrating geological insights into infrastructure planning, with emphasis on safety, cost-effectiveness, and sustainable design. NGSS extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Jharendra K.C. for his invaluable contribution and to all participants for their active engagement. The society remains committed to organizing such informative programs to enhance the professional readiness of emerging geologists.
