Guru Purnima 2081 https://ngss.org.np/elementor-2013/ https://ngss.org.np/elementor-2013/#respond Sun, 21 Jul 2024 02:59:05 +0000 https://ngss.org.np/?p=2013

Guru Purnima celebrated with Tree Plantation at Central Department of Geology

The Nepal Geological Students Society celebrated Guru Purnima on July 21,2024 with a heartfelt tribute to educators and a meaningful tree plantation program on the college premises. The event aimed to honor the invaluable contributions of teachers while promoting environmental sustainability.

The celebration commenced with a gathering of faculty, students, and staff in the department’s hall.

Following the opening remarks, alumni from the department shared anecdotes and appreciation notes presented in video form, highlighting their teachers’ influence on their academic and personal growth. The heartfelt tributes set a warm tone for the day, reinforcing the significant role educators play in shaping future geologists.

The highlight of the day was the tree plantation program held in the department‘s premises. Attendees gathered to plant native saplings, symbolizing growth and sustainability.

“Planting these trees is our way of giving back to nature, just as our teachers give so selflessly to us,” remarked Sanam Oli, President of the NGSS. “We hope these trees will flourish and serve as a reminder of our gratitude.”

The initiative received enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty, fostering a sense of community and collective responsibility toward the environment. Students were engaged in various activities, including digging holes, planting saplings, and watering them, all while learning about the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and preventing soil erosion—topics closely linked to their field of study.

As the sun set over the campus, the newly planted trees stood as a testament to the day’s celebrations—a blend of appreciation for educators and a commitment to a greener future. The Nepal Geological Students Society looks forward to monitoring the growth of these trees, which will serve as a living legacy of this year’s Guru Purnima.

The society hopes to make this tree plantation an annual tradition, reinforcing the connection between education and environmental responsibility.
